I was born in Oslo, Norway in 1963. I grew up in Akershus county moving from place to place in the Oslo Area during my childhood. Out of all the classes I took in grade school, I liked art class the most. So arts and crafts, drawing, and painting became what I enjoyed most doing.
I've been asked to do other work such as flower, cake and table decorations for special occasions but I still enjoy painting more than all of the above work that I've done.
I have no formal education in art except for a few classes in drawing and a class at Dekoratørfagskolen i Akershus, learning how to make decorations for stores, fairs and customers.
Around 1995, I entered Fet kunstforening and participated in a few exhibitions and sold some pictures. Also participated two years in annual exhibitions during Skauendagen locally in Fetsund.
For 12 years i've been working for a living in other areas besides art. This has been my main concern in life. I was thinking that my painting days were over during this 12 year span of work.
I recently entered Fet kunstforening again in 2009. I am finally painting again and happy to have found my creativity come back to me once again.
I get my inspirations for my paintings from the beautiful scenery of Norway. I used to do more landscape paintings, but now I create paintings in the abstract style. I feel more free with that when I paint abstract, but I will eventually do both styles in some way. I also get a lot of my inspirations from my dreams.
I used oil paints before but switched to using acrylic paint in my paintings. Acrylic paint has longer lasting colors and it dries up faster than oil.
I try to find a little time each day to work on my paintings because it simply makes me happy and calm. I enjoy making them.
